The Director
Guy Shahar
Guy Shahar
Guy's directing career began at age 8, when he choreographed and staged the neighborhood kids in his own version of West Side Story. Years later, as a graduate of the New York Film Academy and The New School, he served as writer/director/producer of over 25 short films for the prolific Group 101 (previously QuickFlicks), and directed for Ogilvy & Mather. His award-winning work has appeared on television and in several dozen film festivals worldwide. As an actor himself, Guy is passionately committed to the craft of acting. He serves as assistant director and instructor at the Deena Levy Theatre Studio; and is a member of the prestigious DnA, which explores the director's work with actors in a structured workshop setting. He currently works with Priority Films, where he writes, directs, and produces for film and television, and for whom he is slated to helm the feature comedy "Taking the Stand" in 2008.
Christopher King
Cast
Christopher King (Joe)
Chris' most notable film appearances include Robert Redford's Quiz Show and Taylor Hackford's Devil's Advocate. Chris also worked with Jonathan Larson prior to the musical Rent, and walked the lovely Kim Cattrall down the aisle during one of the most-watched episodes of Sex and the City. Over his 23-year professional career, Chris has been on more sets than he can remember--and on even more cutting room floors! Thankfully, all efforts to cut him out of The Apologist were foiled. Working on The Apologist will always be a memorable experience, from the intense and fun character development work with director Guy Shahar, to fending for himself through the crowds in Times Square, to signing autographs for tourists who assumed he was an American star.
Stephanie Bast
Stephanie Bast (Paprika)
Stephanie was last seen with Antonio Banderas in the Broadway revival of Nine. She will soon be seen kissing Ryan Gosling in the upcoming Half Nelson (dir. Ryan Fleck). Other Broadway includes: The Scarlet Pimpernel, King David, Miss Saigon and A Christmas Carol with Ben Vereen. Stephanie loves taking direction, and has been directed by some big names in film and television, co-starring in such shows as Law & Order (Dirs: Ed Sherin, Martha Mitchell), The Jury (Dir: Barry Levinson), Cosby (Dir: Don Scardino), and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Dir: Scott Preston) where she played the disease SARS. She is very pleased to add Guy Shahar to her impressive roster!
